Material A wooden leaf cabinet, similer to the Geometric Cabinet which has three drawers . The removable insets are painted green and the base of the drawer is painted yellow. There are fourteen insets found in the drawers which have different leaf shapes. The stems point downwards.

Spatulate:   Like a spoon
Aciculate:   Two needles joined at one end.
Hastate :     Shaped like a fish, with the stem attached between the tail fins.
Sagittate :   Like the head of an arrow, with the stem attached where the rod of the arrow would be.

Presentation1
Invite the child and tell him that you will be showing him different leaf shapes. Keep the tray on the mat and take the insets from the tray on to the mat following the concept of ‘left to right’ and ‘top to bottom’. Then using the non dominant hand take up the first leaf. Trace the contour of the leaf with the dominant hand, also trace the frame in he drawer. Replace the inset into the drawer. Repeat the same action with all the shapes. Allow the child to do the same.

**Every time you introduce a drawer allow the child to go into the garden and look for similar shapes on bushes, trees and flowers. It gives the child a connection to the real world. **

Presentation 2 
The cards with leaf shapes – Full surface, Thick outline and Thin Outline Invite the child to bring a drawer from the cabinet and its corresponding cards. Place the Full surface cards below the drawer in a random manner. Then take the top left inset and match it to the corresponding card. Repeat for all the leaf shapes. Replace the insets after feeling the outlines and the frames with the dominant hand.

Presentation 3
